Paid Work Placement in Holyhead for Computing graduate (Bangor, Gwynedd, North Wales)



A Holyhead company specialising in building and repairing commercial and military craft such as Pilot Boats Patrol Boats Assault Craft and Fire boats are seeking a graduate with skills in database development to undertake an 8 week paid placement. Pay will be £240 per week fpr the duration of the 8 week placement. The purpose of this role is to plan design and create a database into which all the servicing and maintenance requirements are entered along with the running hours for each vessel. The database will require the ability for engineers to input data remotely and also for the database to alert staff on issues via automatically generated e-mails. There are items onboard the vessels which have a finite life which also need to be included. Responsibilities Plan design and create database Work with Support Manager and other staff to map database inputs and outputs Collect data for input into database Thoroughly test stability and usability of database Train staff to operate completed database Coordinate the implementation of the new system Produce instructions for the use of the database and its features Expected Outcomes To produce a working database system which coordinates all the maintenance and servicing of the craft on which data can be entered remotely.
